β¨ This week's quote: If you're building in health tech, and if you have women as your users/customers, then you are building in women's health.

β¨ This week's life update: I had my first therapy session of the year! I used to go more often when I had my benefits, but since I don't, it's not as accessible π . Iβm very happy I invested in the appointment though, it was extremely helpful and grounding. The biggest takeaway was: when you're going through life changes, don't forget about your toolkit!
There are things I've learned throughout my health journey that I know are essential to my mental, physical, and spiritual wellness. For me that looks like:
Meditation: helps me regulate my emotions
Physical movement: the only way I can truly de-stress + those endorphins (Barry's Class!)
Journaling: allowing myself to see my thoughts clearly
Eating consistently: at regular meal times
Simple things, but they truly compound and help keep me grounded during seasons of change and growth. As I continue my journey in San Francisco, I'm reminding myself to lean on these foundational practices.
β¨ This week's reflection: Something that has been moving through my mind lately is this thought: If you're building in health tech, and if you have women as your users/customers, then you are building in women's health.
I think we have the idea that "women's health" is strictly for companies focused on fertility, menopause, maternal health, etc. But a great example is Oura. A wearable health company that doesn't position themselves as women's health, but since the majority of their user base has become women, they've doubled down on ensuring their product delivers the highest value for their customers. For their women users, that means creating unique features, like adapting the readiness score to their cycles.
If I were a VC today, focused on womenβs health β I'd double down on investing in companies like Oura that may be more general but are actively recognizing and responding to the unique needs of their female users.
β¨ This week's podcast: Lessons from an $11B Healthcare Exit - The Health of Healthcare Podcast (Thank you Saki Oshima for sharing this podcast with me!)
β¨ This week's journal prompt: What essential tools or practices have I been neglecting in my self-care toolkit? How can I reincorporate them into my daily life this week?
