embracing seasons & building community

✨ This week's quote: "life is a balance of holding on and letting go" - rumi
✨ This week's life update: Week three in SF has been a whirlwind of community building and prioritizing rest. One of my intentions when moving here was to create meaningful spaces to cultivate community in the women's health space - and this week, we get to celebrate our first two events hosted!!

On Monday, we gathered for an intimate women's health founders' funding & connection session with pre-seed & seed stage startups, followed by Tuesday's open event for everyone building, operating, or doing research in women's health. After hosting 100+ events, I've learned the importance of different formats: intimate spaces where founders can vulnerably share their journeys, build deep connections, and foster impactful business opportunities, and larger community gatherings that spark unexpected connections, build relationships in the ecosystem, and inspire more people to get involved!

The collaborations and partnerships emerging from these events have reaffirmed something powerful: the incredible resourcefulness of women and the transformative power of community. We learn from each other, share resources, and lift each other in life changing ways. Something I deeply believe is that we are all one conversation, person, and introduction away from something that can change our life. My intention with building community is to create more opportunities for this to happen for people!

✨ This week's reflection: As we transition into February, and with the timing of Lunar New Year (Happy year of the dragon! 🐉♥️), the feeling of a new page turning is in the air. I like to take times of transition as an opportunity to reflect on what has just passed. Something I've been practicing this past month was reflecting on my days as either energy-giving or energy-draining, labeling them in my calendar with a green or red symbol. This time and energy audit helps me better understand which tasks, people, and experiences energize vs drain me.
This practice really helps me plan work and social events around my energy peaks throughout the month. I’ve noticed that I’m much more productive, present and engaged when I honour these patterns and learn to work with my body rather than against it. As we enter this new month & lunar year, it's the perfect time for reflecting, letting go of what's not aligned, and establishing systems that truly serve us!
✨ This week's journal prompt: What did I learn about myself in January that I want to carry into February? What lessons have served their purpose and can be left behind?

🍒 WOMEN'S HEALTH NEWS THAT CAUGHT MY ATTENTION 🍒
Kristen Brown’s recent piece on "A less brutal alternative to IVF" caught the attention of many on Linkedin this week. In the article, she quoted Pietro Bortoletto, Director at Boston IVF saying that "right now our treatment options are pretty binary" reflects a broader truth in women's healthcare. How many of us have sat in doctors' offices only to hear the same limited solutions: "birth control, pain killers, or get a less stressful job"? But companies like Gameto are revolutionizing this landscape, proving that we can create gentler, more nuanced approaches to fertility treatment. Living through this era of innovation in women's health fills me with hope – we're finally seeing alternatives that acknowledge the complexity of women's bodies and experiences.
BrightHealth's recent FDA clearance for their AI-powered prenatal health defect detection technology marks a significant milestone. This innovation isn't just about implementing new technology – it's about fundamentally improving the accuracy and efficiency of prenatal care while giving valuable time back to our healthcare providers.
Bayer's entry into the UK menopause market with their new education hub signals an important shift in the industry. When global healthcare leaders invest in women's health, particularly in underserved areas like menopause care, it sends a powerful message: women's health isn't just a niche market – it's a major business opportunity with the potential to impact millions of lives.
The launch of Europe's first private women's health research tissue bank by Biograd Biobank genuinely fills me with joy to see. As someone deeply immersed in women's health research, I've seen firsthand how the lack of female-specific biobanks has held back progress in this field. This development could be a game-changer, accelerating research and innovation across the entire women's health ecosystem.
Fertility Innovation Milestone Congratulations to Gameto on their FDA clearance for Fertilio! This advancement brings us one step closer to more accessible and less invasive fertility solutions.
Question for our community: How do you see AI potentially transforming your experience with healthcare? What aspects of care do you believe should remain firmly human-centered?
