impermanent, imperfect, incomplete

This week's reflection:

Hi friends! 💗 Today marks 4 weeks since I moved to SF! For those new here, I recently quit my job, rented out my apartment, and bought a ticket to SF to focus on my mission of closing the gender health gap. As I sat journaling about this transition, I wanted to share some reflections that might resonate with you.

  • Some seasons are for reflecting, others for doing. Right now, I'm in an 80/20 doing/reflecting phase

  • The power of making decisions once: Commit fully, execute, then reflect and iterate

  • Planning events around my high-energy phases makes the world of a difference

  • Having a supportive partner makes leaps of faith feel less daunting

  • Trusting my gut about who/what reciprocates energy and effort

  • Focusing on authenticity over perfection, asking myself if I am allowing who I am to truly shine in moments, or am I trying to be someone I am not?

A perspective shift that was really impactful for me: Instead of asking "Do I like this job/person/role?" ask "Do I like who I am in this job/with this person/in this role?"

✨ This week's conversation highlight: A fascinating discussion with Dr. Stephanie Faubion, Director of Women's Health at Mayo Clinic, left me pondering: While startups often view their data as a competitive advantage, I believe partnership will be crucial for survival in women's health – especially as we see mostly point solutions right now.

The question keeping me up at night: How do we create business models that incentivize meaningful partnerships, particularly as PE firms look to consolidate these point solutions into platforms?

✨ This week's journal prompt: Is there a place in my life where I’m trying to be someone I’m not? What does it look like to own my authentic self?

🌱 COMMUNITY & EVENTS 🌱

Planning an exciting event for International Women’s Day, keep an eye out in the next edition for the details…👀💐

This past week: I’m honoured to have been invited to moderate the investors panel and judge the startup showcase in San Diego with Aquillius.

At the event, I had a grounding conversation with two women founders around my age living with disabilities. As a Canadian learning about the US healthcare system for the first time, hearing their raw experiences with Medicaid, insurance battles, and being consistently gaslit by medical professionals hit home. Their stories were both heartbreaking and motivating - a powerful reminder of how much work we still need to do in patient advocacy, and cures for rare diseases. I believe we have incredible people building in the heathcare space, and honestly hope in my heart that technology will be able to lift existing barriers and bring more more hope to patients and people navigating uncertain health conditions.
